SweetBay in Panama City is a wonderful, beautiful, and usually quiet community. However, every Tuesday and Friday the city trash service picks up between the hours of 4:30 am and 6:00 am, destroying sleep for many of the SweetBay residents. The issue lies in that this community contains homes that are very close together with short setbacks from roads/alleys, and many homes have complex alleys behind them where the trash truck must carefully navigate back and forth very close to the bedrooms of sleeping residents. In addition, the incredibly noisy trash trucks are fully hydraulically actuated and make ear piercing/window rattling noise on every can pick up, when shaking the cans 15 ft in the air, and when backing down roads and alleys (back up beeps). These noises repeat every 30 to 40 ft. The harsh noise of these trucks violate local noise ordinances at these times. The trucks originally came early to avoid the construction trucks lining roads/alleys, which made sense. However, with Phase 1 (1A,1B,1C) of SweetBay fully complete, this petition asks that the city of Panama City please move the pickup of Sweet Bay Phase 1 to anytime after 8:00 a.m. on the given pick up days. We are all grateful of the hard work these wonderful professionals do, but just not at the current pickup times. Please sign for the sake of your family and my family's sleep and mental wellbeing. I am honestly a bit overwhelmed by the momentum behind this request. It is truly humbling to see so many neighbors feeling the same way I do about these early mornings.

my family is woken up everytime it picks up trash before 6am. We have tried fan noise doubles ate curtains and its still extremely load.
The noise is far too excessive for 5:30am and for a neighborhood of closely built homes.
Why not pick it up at midnight with a mule-drawn wagon? Then, I would have just fallen asleep so the chances of ruining my entire night will be higher and the mule combined with the wagon may have a higher decibel rating than the truck which currently sits at 134db.
Can we also ask to not smash the trash in truck in the alley Squeeze the juice somewhere else!!
Trash service is way too early in our neighborhood.

We have little children, and having these trucks come by at such an early time, unnecessarily wakes them up, causing their sleeping habits to get out of control. It is important for our trash to be picked up, but to do so at such an early time is not only inconsiderate, but also irresponsible, as many of us in the neighborhood have young children or elderly family living with us. I'm worried that when school starts, our girls will not get enough sleep and will be woken up at 4:30am and then be expected to perform well at school, knowing they lost 2 hours of important sleep. I don't think it is feasible for them to go to bed at 6pm to make up for the 2 hours lost in the morning.
