Please help High School students from Lakewood and Orion Prosper, Orion Lakes communities with Bus transportation for school. We are concerned about safety and security of the students by taking walk path and also amount of time it takes for student to reach school. We appreciate your support on this matter.

Having so many constructions around the area makes extremely vulnerable for kids to walk alone to the school. Please continue to have the bus to ensure safety of our kids.

I tried walking the pathway to school. It took me 40mins. These are little kids most only weighing in the range of 80-99lbs. With their extracurricular activities have to carry bags weighing up to 20-30lbs. A 40min walk in Texas weather is absolutely ludicrous. Not to mention completely unsafe. If the district is so reluctant to provide transportation free of cost, I am willing to pay for a bus to be sent to our apartment (on top of the taxes we already pay for such basic services). it is impractical for houses with multiple working parents to drop and pickup kids everyday. If it was a 20min walk we could ask them to walk, but 40mins is unsafe and dangerous. I suggest the school district either reconsiders its budgeting to account for basic transportation or prepare for a hefty lawsuit.

It is general practice for school districts to provide transportation for students living more than 1 mile away. A 20min walk (which comes with 1 mi distance) is the threshold for walk commute. From our address the school is a 40min walk. This is an absurd distance for kids at the age of 15 to walk with a heavy back pack every day twice a day.

Even though the office to my apartment may be less than 2 miles away, my building where my daughter would have to start her walk is actually more than 2 miles away. But there are plenty of homes that are a part of La Cima that are even closer than my apartment office, but they will still be eligible to have safe transportation.

We would request school board to re-visit this decision and consider providing bus for the safety of our kids. Orion Prosper apartments is a huge community and it will be more than 2 miles for some of the kids depending on where their apartment is located. Coit road in-front of the apartments experiences lot of heavy traffic during school time. Approx 45 mins of one-way walking distance with inclement weather would also be a challenge for the kids. Hope this decision gets re-evaluated and suitable decision will be taken.

Requesting to provide bus transportation to Orion Prosper community. Morning rush hour is making many car pool parents stranded at the gate to cross due to middle school traffic.

I am a parent of a 11th grader at WGHS, there are a lot of families that stay at Orion Prosper and Orion Prosper Lakes communities. As you may be aware these communities themselves are quite huge and spread out, there are houses closer to the main gate and some of the homes are on the far end of the community. The google GPS shows 2.2 miles to WGHS and since this community is right across Rogers the morning hours gets quite busy and there are a few places where there will be no crossing guards and considering the morning rush hour to the middle school will be a risk to the high schoolers who will be walking / crossing some of these busy intersections trying to reach the trial. I would request the authorities to re-consider this and provide transportation to these communities this year. This will give the parents and students an opportunity to plan for the next year. Since there was no earlier notice it is very difficult for some of the working parents to plan pick / drop responsibilities considering we are just days away from school start. Thank You.

Requesting to please reconsider the decision made for bus transportation ineligible zone for Orion Prosper apartments as it takes a lot of effort for kids to walk for about 30 to 40 mins to school that hampers their safety and time managed on regular basis.

Students living within 3 miles have to walk 30-45 minutes in inclement weather with backpacks, etc. and during daylight savings time, which poses a risk. Especially during a time when Amber alerts are almost a daily concern. PISD should have also provided notice sooner and provider other third-party alternatives, especially with school starting soon. Parents, especially working parents are now having to scramble to find transportation.

Transportation is needed from Orion Prosper Lakes. There's an enormous amount of traffic at the entrance of Orion Prosper Lakes due to the Middle School which makes crossing unsafe.
