Transform the Field @ The Circle in Sybrand Park: A Call for Safety and Community Use

- We, the undersigned residents and supporters, call on the relevant municipal authorities to urgently address the ongoing safety and neglect of the public field in Sybrand Park, Mowbray.
This field has become a hotspot for criminal activity—including robberies, drug use, and prostitution—putting residents at risk and reducing the quality of life in the area.
As the owner of Kaapse Food Truck Lane, I have applied in my personal capacity to lease and responsibly manage this space, with the goal of restoring safety, cleanliness, and accessibility. My vision includes:
Cleaning and maintaining the area consistently,
Making it a safe, vibrant space open to all residents,
Using it as an extension of Kaapse Food Truck Lane to promote local business, community gathering, and job creation,
Actively deterring criminal activity through a consistent presence and responsible oversight.
This initiative will not only reclaim a neglected space but transform it into a hub of positive, inclusive activity.
We urge the municipality to:
1. Expedite policy and bylaw approvals,
2. Recognize the urgent need for intervention,
3. Approve the lease application to allow responsible, community-focused management of the field.
Let’s turn a space of risk into one of opportunity—for safety, growth, and unity in Sybrand Park and greater Mowbray.
