**NEED YOUR SIGNATURES FOR NEW TRAFFIC LIGHT***
A few of us living in the Tuscany Court complex on Middle Neck Rd are putting together a petition for new traffic light to be installed at the intersection of Middle Neck Rd. and Clover Drive. It is where Young Israel of Great Neck and a few other small businesses are located along with local residents. Over and over again, we have seen the danger caused by cars, trucks, speeding down Middle Neck Rd in both directions disregarding speed limit and yield for pedestrians crossings. The lack of consideration for the safety of others is sadly overwhelming! This has put the local residents, especially the kids that attend the Young Israel of Great Neck in harms way.

"In order to remedy the dangerous traffic condition noted above, and to prevent pedestrian injury, it is proposed that a Traffic Light be installed at the intersection of Middle Neck Road and Clover Drive. While a different traffic control device, such as a Stop Sign or a Yield Sign, might be effective, it is unlikely that this will remedy the condition. Due to blind spots in the stretch of roadway on Middle Neck Road between Allenwood Road and Clover Drive, the Stop sign or Yield Sign would not be easily visible. To most effectively remedy this dangerous condition to pedestrians, it is proposed that a Traffic Light be installed at the above-referenced intersection, and that a Radar Speed Sign be installed while Traffic Light installation is pending."

This can certainly save lives as this intersection is truly dangerous. I used to live in 221 Middle Neck Rd and had always difficulty crossing the street. Cars have no respect for cross walks in this town. Cops should ticket cars for not yielding to pedestrians just like LA, to change their behavior, but until then a traffic light is a must.
Installing a traffic light will save lives. This intersection is very dangerous to cross now. I’ve been nearly hit twice by cars.
Between Allen wood and woolly Lane is a long walk for finding a Access to Cross middle neck Rd. Specially it's a lot of residential apartment and people crossing to get in or out of there cars to get to there apartment.
Surely needed... Would be ideal not only for Young Israel of Great Neck and Tuscany Court residents but also for Clover Drive School, an active venue for adult education programs. The current stop sign at the Clover Drive corner is not practical for entry onto Middle Neck Road. The sight line is not clear in either direction.
Hopefully the traffic light will include a walk/don't walk box with countdown timer and pedestrian push switch; the NYS yield to pedestrians in crosswalk law is often ignored.
c'mon, just get it done
We live on 18 Clover Dr. and have personally witnessed vehicles speeding through this intersection and as well as accidents .

A member was killed crossing M.N.Rd. 20 yrs ago on his way to morning prayer at YIGN. This light might have saved his life. Traffic light is long overdue.
