This intersection is dangerous, especially since late night sports and scout meetings are held at the Arena and Parkside Elementary.

I believe that traffic lights are safer than pedestrian crossovers, because at a traffic light, if the light is red, you know you have to stop no matter what. Traffic lights also tell drivers and pedestrians when they can go or not. Pedestrian crossovers don't tell pedestrians when it is safe to cross or not. Sometimes at crossovers, even if the lights are flashing, it doesn't mean that someone is currently crossing. If the lights are not flashing, someone could still be there, and it can be harder to realize that you didn't yield to that person. One time when we were driving on Gerrard street, we were coming to a crossover, and the warning lights have been flashing for a while, but there was nobody crossing. We slowed down, and looked around to see if someone was at the crossover, but no one was there. Then all of a sudden someone came to the crossover and started crossing, and we slammed on the brakes, and it could have been a near miss collision. Someone behind us also could have rear ended us too. I find it safer to cross when there is a pedestrian traffic control signal, and for the reasons above, I believe that a traffic light should be there instead.

For the safety of the community, this traffic light will save lives. Let's not have another trajedy occur before we are forced to implement safety measures. A life is more valuable than the cost of erecting a traffic light. Thank you!

There also needs to be a pedestrian cross walk east of this intersection by Oak Park Ave. where people cross over from the East York Curling Club parking lot. The street has become more busy and people are racing across to get to the park.
