We are requesting a Traffic Circle on SW 142nd Avenue between SW 112th Street (Our Lady of Lourdes Church) and SW 120th Street (Tamiami Airport Northern Perimeter). One of the major reasons for the request is that many drivers use SW 142nd Avenue as a Shortcut Thru-street to bypass other well serviced streets with posted traffic lights and speed limit signs. By using SW 142nd Avenue North or South travel they are more likely to drive in excess of 30 MPH which is most cases we have documented proof submitted to Miami-Dade County and can be seen by media at YouTube.com/zechrah There is also a potential hazard to children playing in the area as well as the school that is located at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. On certain days during the week there will be more than 40 vehicles parked on SW 142nd Ave. On special holidays such as Palm Sunday , Easter Sunday, Ash Wednesday and/or other major events the congregants of Our Lady of Lourdes Church will park their cars on both sides of SW 142nd Avenue. On Saturday and Sundays there are over 100 professional cyclists that ride twice a day and they face potential hazards from speeding motorists. Traffic circles are used in residential neighborhoods as a way of slowing traffic. Usually what happens is that a street will represent a straight shot from one side of a neighborhood to another, and will be driven at higher speeds than are prudent. Usually these are long straight streets that parallel major streets that are congested Traffic circles not only limit the abuse of drivers who speed on the avenue but also it does something to the property values in the area. Traffic circles have actually increased the value of homes in areas in Miami-Dade County where Traffic Circles have been erected. There are only 3 posted 30 MPH Speed Limit signs between SW 112th St. & SW 120th Street. Whereas there are 8 posted 30 MPH Speed Limit signs between SW 104th St. & SW 112th Street.
