Now comes a petition by the residents and taxpayers of Coventry Rhode Island requesting a motion to be made by the Town Council to immediately halt all sewer projects until the Town Administrators provide all residents with the following: estimated costs to each homeowner, including but not limited to the estimated sewer assessment, and all the rules, regulations, and requirements of all residents (those that have cesspools, septic systems greater than 10 years old, and septic systems less than 10 years old).

Subsequent to the Town Council and Town Administrators providing this information, the residents and taxpayers request the Town Council hold a town-wide vote that allows each taxpayer to choose to approve or deny the continuation of the sewer projects in Coventry.

The Town Council is feeling the pressure from these signatures. Hold them accountable for the lack of transparency regarding our costs.

The momentum is undeniable now. Coventry is demanding transparency and we are finally getting the town's attention.

100 signatures on the board. The town council needs to see this momentum.

I would like to understand how they were allowed to start this project without the residents signing off on anything? We have functional septics but they want to charge us to hook up to sewers?? What about residents that recently had to replace their septic system??

My septic is 2 years old. Why would I want additional bills for a sewer system I don’t need. There needs to be complete disclosure by the town of Coventry before this nightmare advances any further. This whole thing stinks.

Need a lot more information about this! We are seniors, this won't be easy to pay for! We have never had an issue with our septic system so right now we are not for it if the cost is outrageous.

There should be NO reason to force home owners to tired into a sewer system if their current septic system is in compliance and is not causing any environmental impact. Plus $25k for the average tie in??? What a money grab and one more reason why people are leaving Coventry and also RI

Reduces property values by thousands because the expenses will all be passed on to new owners when the homes are sold. I lived in West Warwick for many years and they pulled the same stunt so I moved..... to Coventry

I don’t think that people should be forced to hook up to the sewer system, and don’t think the whole thing is necessary. It could be cheaper to get you septic system redone using a home equity loan at a lower interest rate than the town charges for the sewers going by the house.

We should not be forced into paying double the amount as stated, when this was proposed, plus double the interest
