I wholeheartedly and strongly oppose this mandate. It is shameful we’ve required our first responders, the ones who put their lives on the line each and every day, to take a none FDA approved vaccine or risk losing a job they have dedicated their heart and soul to. They’ve committed themselves to the betterment of our community and we meet them with an ultimatum; take an experimental drug or your job, regardless of all your hard work and dedication to our people, is gone. The real problem is that we have multigenerational family living situations that have nowhere to quarantine as they did last year. Hotels were closed last year and made available for those who tested positive to properly quarantine themselves. Now that we’ve opened up the state to visitors, those quarantine options have been stripped. Not to mention the Lt. Governor aggressively and publicly demonizes those who are not vaccinated (literally saying they are “deeply disturbed”) and continues to strike blame on those who have not gotten the vaccine. He does, however, leave out the possibility that those who are vaccinated and the over 900,000 visitors that came this summer may also be responsible for the spreading of COVID (since none of the vaccines prevent transmission). It is a federal offense to ask why someone needs a service animal, but now we are to demand to see physical proof of the medical choice you made or were forced into by our own state. All of this, and we have some of the lowest numbers in the country. This mandate serves to divide the people of Hawaii. It serves to create fear and hate. We will not be made to be afraid of one another and we will come together to overcome this.

I would like to see the mandates for vaccinations rescinded.

We have consistent medical proof that people vaccinated for Covid-19 have contracted Covid-19 and are shedding and spreading it. Our right to privacy and our freedoms are being infringed and this must stop.

Aloha, We’re writing to you out of concern over Governor Ige’s August 5, 2021, Emergency Proclamation Related to the COVID-19 Response, in which state employees are being required to attest to their vaccination status. One of us is a state employee and the other works from home full time. One of us is vaccinated and the other is not vaccinated. We are parents to a beautiful and brilliant elementary-aged child. And not that it should be relevant to this topic, but for context, we do not identify as political conservatives or democrats, we are independent for many reasons. Becoming vaccinated was one of our rights and choice, and a decision one did not make lightly. The other is an elementary teacher with the Hawaii Department of Education and has for their own personal reasons and fully within their rights elected not to receive the vaccine at this time. However, based on Interim Superintendent Hayashi’s August 13, 2021, memo outlining the requirements, it is clear that the enforcement of this proclamation within the Department of Education is actively discriminatory against individuals who are making this decision, or who are for medical reasons being advised by their healthcare providers not to receive the vaccine because of complications that can arise from it. There is an inherent flaw in the logic of the proclamation in assuming that vaccinated individuals need not be regularly tested for COVID-19. These vaccines, though effective, are not a panacea, and we’re seeing that prove out in what’s happening in the schools right now. The now-FDA-approved Pfizer vaccine is by their own admission “Based on results from the clinical trial, […] 91% effective in preventing COVID-19 disease.” That percentage only considers the original version of the virus, and not its variants. One of us works for one of the largest elementary schools in the state, a student body whom because of the age requirements are ENTIRELY unvaccinated and unable to be. There are over 100 employe

My daughter in law , just informed me someone sh knows had the second vax and got the Coved 19 after. When we hear these things, it’s not good. I’m not opposed to people getting the vax but am opposed to someone not being able to chose. That’s not freedom. Judy DeVilbiss

This mandate is absolutely discriminatory and illegal. The fact that perfectly healthy, willing, and able teachers (and others) are being sent home (and without pay) is asinine. I OPPOSE. Stop all the unlawful and illegal actions government is doing!

Aloha Governor, I am requesting on behalf of the residents of the State of Hawaii that you, and your staff create in a timely manner before the end of September townhall meeting where all side come together and discuss solutions regarding Covid Mandatory testing, invite both sides of Medical, Naturopath, Physicians, experting on testing, be more proactive than reactive to just send out an Executive Order.
