Streets for scooters, period. They are terrifying and dangerous on sidewalks. Helmets should be required, just like bikes.

It highly probably that an innocent pedestrian will be killed or severely injured by a speeding electric scooter on the sidewalk. Additionally this is especially dangerous for people with vision impairments and people who are blind. I was nearly hit myself by one of these speeding electric scooters who came without warning behind me.

Why do we need Bloody Scooters with all the congestion in Wash. D.C. Let people learn how to walk and exercise for their health - both physical and mental! These scooters are only a traffic hazard for older pedestrians as well as the number of cars, taxis and other vehicles navigating the streets. This is only a ploy to keep doctors, ambulance services and scooter entrepreneurs wealthy!!!

adding insult to injury, they are now using the roadway, but....going the wrong way on one-way streets. was narrowly missed by one recently. and i had the walk sign!

Scooters are flying down the hill on the side walk from Columbia Road to the 1800 Block of Connecticut Avenue. Very dangerous for everyone, walker and rider. There should be a sign at the top of the hill: Please walk your bike or your scooter down the hill.

Motorized wheelchairs and pedestrians belong on sidewalks. Bikes and scooters belong in street on bike lanes with helmets . Scooter riders should pay an extra 50 cents for liability insurance, scooters should have a recognizable scooter number, scooter companies need to be liable , police can issue tickets that would generate money fir the city to be used fir safer bike lanes and pedestrian walkways. If a pedestrian is hit by a force going 5 miles or 15 mph serious injury or death can occur.

I am a senior citizen and feel endangered by scooters using sidewalks. People should not leave scooters in the middle of a side walk either.

Happy to see the movement. Petition enforcement details a bit unreasonable; signing in support of banning scooters from sidewalks and ticketing for violations. They startle dogs when whizzing by or approaching from behind and create safety and liability issues.

All who use the streets and sidewalks need to enhance their awareness of those around them. Scooters are the icing on the cake, but drivers, cyclists, and walkers are doing their part to create hazards. DC needs to get it together in transportation safety.

I was pushed by behind by a scooter a few weeks ago and now have to be careful they don't run over my dog on the sidewalks. They do not belong on the sidewalks!

This isn't great news. Was knocked to the pavement, and spent most of the morning in GWUH's E.R., after being struck by one of these riders, this morning. Needless to say, not a fan. Just thankful that my injuries don't appear to be serious.

users should also be required to return scooters to designated docking stations - not just drop them anywhere when they finish their ride.
