The Doctor I've been seeing for the last ten years became more concerned with his profits then with my help, he ordered expensive test with no explanation why and furious with me when I refused them. He offered no explanation why they were needed. So I requested to see another Doctor within the same clinic. I saw him once and he chewed me out for having the audacity to doubt the first Doctor and then to chew me out for turning down an unnecessary surgery that I researched (twice) and rejected without even considering my concerns. It became clear very quickly that this clinic is profit oriented not patient oriented.

Applied medicine is often more art than science, thus a personal connection between doctor and patient is an important, if not essential component of the well being of BOTH. Pleased as I am by Leana's initiative, I think the cause may be effectively supported by the constituency of patients who inform their care-givers of the importance of transparency to them and who urge their doctors to subscribe to the manifesto.

I always wondered when I went into Medical Offices to see a Doctor if they would be open and honest with their patients. This is because I have seen doctors recommend certain medication that they get form Drug Pushers and wonder if they are paid to prescribe one medication over another. Medical Professional should be unbiased because not everyone is the same and we all have different needs. I know that Medical Professional would not recommend the same medication or unbiased view if it where their family members or friends then why toward patients. They took a Hippocratic Oath but if they cannot stand by their Oath then you should not be in this profession.

Silly me, I thought I would find a list of those Dr.s that were willingly sharing their own information so that I could see who was in my area.
I must have understood.
Or did I just miss it? Any help?

That's what I thought as well. Does such a list exist? If so, where can we find it? And if our current doctor is not on the list, how do we invite him or her to do so? I realize this is a relatively new site, but this is important info that we are asking for. Without it, it is simply a manifesto signed by a group of random people who believe that it would be nice to have this info, all the while knowing that it will never come to pass. Thanks for pointing this out, Pat.

I'm not sure when you checked but it clearly shows doctors who have signed the manifesto by speciality. I did notice that some browsers do not support all functions for this site so you might need to try a different browser such as Google Chrome to access all of it. Though I found the doctors who had signed it with Safari.

There's a growing list of transparent physicians on Dr. Wen's website ... http://www.whosmydoctor.com ... that's where this petition you are signing originated. Check out the website for physicians in the area of medicine that you are interested in. It's a small group, and they need to know that there are patients that are actively seeking their services so that more doctors will be encouraged to follow suit.

I saw the TedTalk and was really excited to see this site. I recently moved to a new city and am looking for a new dr - this seemed perfect - except that the site is really not user friendly for quickly finding which Dr's practice in my city. You have to click on every Dr and then hunt for it. I want to support and go to these drs - but the usability of the site is making it difficult.

As a professional actor, I have played sales reps (for major drug companies) who point out the "benefits" of the drug being peddled to the physicians who in turn benefit by prescribing to their patients.
What an "eye-opener" some of these scripts have been.
This T.T.M. started (I presume) by Dr. Wen, is a GREAT and welcome opportunity for us all to change. Change our beliefs in health care, health awareness and preventive and alternative care within our western system! Hurrah and kudos to all who choose to participate!
