For many years kids growing up in Topanga Canyon have always had to find things they enjoy locally because they don't have the resources, like public transportation or many local sports to choose from. Children that live in the city have more options to choose from because they are so much easier to access with public transportation, sidewalks, and street lights. Its ok because most kids growing up in Topanga love the outdoors and they do find hobbies they can enjoy. It always takes a parent to have to shuttle their kids back and fourth to different sports activities & events, or anything else they want to do outside Topanga Cyn. Most parents work during the week and don't have the ability to drive their kids in and out of Topanga Cyn to different sporting activities & hobbies their kids want to participate in. It puts kids in a position wondering what they want to do with their lives, growing up with limited options of available local sports to participate in, in our rural community. We want to change that, and this is why were starting this petition. There has been a huge growth in the sport of BMX & Mountain Biking in the last 10 years (about 50%). kids all over the United States are getting into the sport of BMX and MTB and there is a ton of potential and many requests from the community to open a local BMX Track and Bicycle Terrain Park here in Topanga Canyon. With a very large number of local kids & families getting into the sport and many already avid bike riders, it will be the best thing for our community in so many years! Families and kids all over Topanga and surrounding areas will be able to have the option of starting a hobby they never have tried before, or pushing your skills racing BMX or Riding the Bike Terrain Park in a fun safe family environment. There will be something for everybody to enjoy, of all ages and skill levels and this will keep kids out of trouble and in a safe environment and most of all having more fun then you ever have! This is truly the best thing for our community in so many years, and with so many families already into the sport, and so many more getting into everyday its going to be awesome for everybody and most of all huge for our community. We are trying to get at least 5,000 Signatures so every single signature counts and is one step closer to starting construction.
