We, the residents and supporters of the Liberty Crossing community, respectfully oppose the proposed construction of a 7-Eleven convenience store directly in front of our neighborhood.

This location is not appropriate for another 7-Eleven, and the decision to move forward without meaningful community engagement raises serious concerns.

Key Concerns

1. Oversaturation of 7-Eleven Locations

There is already a 7-Eleven within 0.3 miles of the proposed site—clearly visible from the location itself. In addition, another 7-Eleven is being developed just 0.9 miles away.

This concentration is excessive and unnecessary for our area.

2. Proven Negative Impact on Nearby Communities

The existing 7-Eleven at Highway 156 and Blue Mound Road has consistently been a poor neighbor, with ongoing issues related to cleanliness, maintenance, and overall appearance.

Residents are concerned this new location will bring the same problems closer to our homes.

3. Failed Locations Raise Concerns

A recently opened 7-Eleven at Blue Mound Road and Western Center closed in less than a year. This raises questions about the long-term viability of yet another location in such close proximity.

4. Lack of Community Engagement

Efforts were made to open a dialogue with 7-Eleven regarding reasonable modifications—such as improved lighting design, traffic flow adjustments, and layout considerations—to better fit the neighborhood.

These concerns were dismissed, and no meaningful collaboration was offered.

5. Quality of Life Impacts

Residents are concerned about increased traffic, excessive lighting, noise, and potential litter, all of which directly affect the safety, comfort, and character of our neighborhood.

Our Request

We respectfully ask city officials and decision-makers to:

Reevaluate the approval of this location

Consider the clear overconcentration of similar businesses in the area

Prioritize developments that align with the needs and character of the Liberty Crossing community

Encourage businesses that are willing to engage with and support the neighborhoods they serve

Liberty Crossing deserves thoughtful development, not unchecked expansion.

By signing below, we stand together in asking for a better plan for our community.
