Tony Blackburn should definitely be knighted and so should the other Pirate Radio DJs be recognised for their contribution to modern day radio, we wouldn’t have commercial radio today it were it not for them.
Modern day DJs should get behind this, they wouldn’t have a career today if it were not for them. The BBC should get behind this because BBC radio would not have kept if it were not for their brave attempts to open up the airwaves, to say nothing if the work they subsequently did for BBC radio to bring it up to date.
Is the government too spineless to honour them because it was the government of the day who manipulated the law in order to protect the BBC monopoly at the time.?
Is it not time for the government of today to admit mistakes, say sorry and recognise these guys with a knighthood right away:
Sir Tony Blackburn
Sir Roger (Twiggy) Day
Sir Tom Edwards

One of the silent nations treasures that has consistently given the public joy and an escape from negative news. As a broadcaster his constant upbeat wonderful attitude is a joy. Arise Sir Tony Blackburn

This man deserves an honour for services to broadcast and music.
Many less worthy people seem to get an honour, time for Tony Blackburn to be recognized!

Why this NATIONAL TREASURE has not received recognition for his services to the music industry beats me! This man is incredible. Saturday mornings would not be the same without him or the golden hour on Sundays. Please give this wonderful man a Knighthood.

He should have been knighted years ago. It is a travesty that he has been constantly overlooked
