It is about time! Being a creative myself the broadway shows cannot effectively tell their story with Wigs, Hairstyling and Makeup. All for this!

Wig and hair design plays such an integral part of the visual storytelling of a production. It not only aids in transporting the audience into the story, but it helps the character to come alive on stage. I have worked professionally with theatrical costumes for 22 years; the compliment I cherish most as a designer is when a performer says that the costume really makes them feel like the character they’re playing. Hair/wigs are very much part of that. We are all telling this story together. We’re all creating these productions together. It’s beyond time that we acknowledge and celebrate wig and hair designers by including them in their own category at the Tony Awards.

As an actor on the stage- we wouldn’t have these beautiful shows without this incredible department. Give them the accolades they deserve.

Being a hair and make up artist, we definitely need the recognition for the hard work that we do backstage. The actors wouldn’t look very good on stage which just wigs. They look good because they have wigs and costumes.
