As a professional theatre award program is is unfortunately disgraceful that we still do not recognize our hair and make up designers. This needs to change.

It's well past time the Tony Awards recognizes Hair and Wig and Makeup designers with their own award categories. It's shameful to think that it's 2024 and these categories don't exist.

I have worked as a Costume Designer for over 30 years. The Wig and Makeup Designer s are the first to get to the theater and the last to leave! They have to be so tuned to each and every Actor, be sensitive to their every need! Understand the timeliness for every show, and literally have to be prepared for absolutely anything to happen. The dedication, time, energy, care and knowledge they put into every second of their work is beyond time and space. They need to be applauded, respected, and AWARDED!!!
