Ms Streep arrived at 10am on a Monday morning in full hair and makeup….her hair and makeup designer, Roy Helland, had arrived at her CT home at 6am to complete the job and accompany Ms Streep to the city. For the first fitting.
That’s how important Hair and Makeup design is. It’s time to honor these artists.

I am a wig professional in this industry. It is shameful and transparent that the Tony awards have willfully ignored this category for decades. If the artists that help create the faces and tresses of the stars that win your awards are recognized, then the designers will rightfully deserve higher fees. And THAT is what it’s always been about with you people. Shameful!

I’m shocked that a department that is a crucial part of any production is yet to be recognized for Tony’s. Look at the front page of a Playbill, the Wig and Hair designer and Makeup Designer are right there!
