I opposed this petition. If this change is granted it will start an unstoppable influx of these schools in Toms River. As other have said, we have our own current issues with taxes due to uncontrolled situations like Sandy. We do not need an additional tax burden that can certainly be avoided. I urge any person on the planning board to drive down any road in Lakewood and see the amount of once residential homes that are now religious schools. Please VOTE NO!!

They do not need any schools added to this area on Church Road..it is not zoned for ANY schools...They have already taken over the entire town of lakewood...a few years ago they tried to segregate the lakewood public schools by sending any students not studying Judaism to neighboring schools ..specifically Manchester, thankfully that did not happen..Our schools are already overcrowded.There is plenty of land left in Lakewood to use for building schools...

I am opposed to this variance. As a public school district administrator for the past 7 years, I have experience working with nonpublic schools. There are various regulations that require school districts to share a portion of federal funds (Title I, etc...) with nonpublic schools as well as to dedicate administrative time and resources to manage flow-through state funds (Chapter 192/193, Nonpublic Textbooks, and Nonpublic Technology funds) that are allocated for nonpublic schools. Additionally, public schools can be required to provide transportation for students who attend nonpublic schools. This is one of the most detrimental aspects of the situation in Lakewood...so much so, that as an aspiring School Business Administrator, I am hesitant to even apply for positions in the Lakewood School District Business Office. I share all of this to make the point that in addition to the traffic concerns along Church Road, I am concerned about the financial and human resource strain that allowing this property to be converted to a nonpublic school can have on the school system that my 3 children attend. It is imperative that our township representatives take steps to protect our community from any organized group of people who seek to undermine the rules that have been established to maintain order and stability in our town.

Toms river residents are paying residuals for Super a Storm Sandy. Our taxes has increased, and do not need to add more to our taxes to fund yet another communities antic not to have pay taxes. Who gets the brunt of it? Us, the tax payers. Something has to change

This is zoned residential, and schools do not belong in this neighborhood. A school in this area would have a negative impact on the neighborhood which is unfair to the other property owners.

NO! this is a residential neighborhood and not fair to the taxpayers who worked hard for their homes!!! They would not have bought if they knew this. Go to a commercial area where all schools belong not in a family neighborhood

This is a residential community and randomly allowing a single family residence to suddenly be a religious school us opening up a can of worms we will not be able to cap. Any future request could use this as ammunition to get a future approval. How many such homes would suddenly be allowed to operate as schools or other businesses not currently allowed by zoning restrictions. Zoning laws exist for a reason. Someone can't suddenly decide they don't want to follow the rules that everyone else always follows. The laws are for everyone to follow, period. Please listen to the tax paying, voting residents of the town.
