Pakhshan Azizi's appeal has reached a critical intersection; her appeal has been denied, and her death sentence is imminent.
A Kurdish activist and social worker, alongside Warishe Moradi, they have been detained and tortured for almost a year, and have been sentenced to death by the Islamic Revolutionary Court in Tehran on charges of "armed insurrection" (baghi) through membership in the Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK).
They are an embodiment of Woman, Life, Freedom. They have dedicated their lives to supporting women, advancing their rights. Their sacrifice and dedication has inspired the women in prison and people globally. Following the verdict, women political prisoners in Evin Prison staged a sit-in protest in the prison yard for several hours.
The European Parliament demanded their immediate and unconditional release, along with at least 56 other political prisoners on death row in Iran.
Hundreds of activists and organisations have released statements and videos in support of their release and the campaign 'No to Execution, Yes to Free Life'.
We demand the execution be revoked, we staand in solidarity with them, with every woman who is oppressed and with every woman who is fighting for freedom
