When I heard that the college was closing its library, I was certain that the messenger was misinformed. A college without a library is not credible.

As an alumnus of SUNY Sullivan, I believe the plan to close the library is an awful idea and will only hurt the college. Sullivan's graduation rate is already low to begin with and I believe resources in the library should be expanded and not cut. As someone who benefited from the use of the library computers I don't understand why the school would be looking to shrink library resources. We should be looking to add resources, not the opposite.

Hard to believe this is even an issue. Is SCCC broke? Let's go to Cuomo for sufficient funding.

Digital media access can never come close to doing what a full library, and the assistance of live librarians, can do to further knowledge. A decision to reduce the library is simply wrong, and reduces the learning capacity of SCCC students, especially students who need additional enrichment to strengthen their skills. Please do not do this.
In addition, the library has been and remains an invaluable resource for the community at large. This county has so few resources for good, solid learning for students and concerned citizens alike. Please reconsider for the sake of the well-being of those the college serves, both within its corridors and outside.

Technologies change, but a library is a repository of information. Elimination of information is irresponsible and antithetical to an institution of higher learning. I respectfully demand, as a tax paying supporter of SCCC that Oates remain as Librarian and the Library continues to enrich and enliven the student body of SCCC.

Our Librarians are as important as any of our First Responders. They are the Navigators from Ignorance to Understanding. They are not some line item on a budget.
I INSIST you keep Evangela Q Oates, Director of Library Services working at SUNY Sullivan.

SCCC allows a president of 18 monthis and his right hank associate to walk into Sullivan County and set people up to lose their jobs and dismantle the Library that have been in existence since the inception of the college while throwing good people names around as if it’s nothing and it is to just be accepted.

It a shock that Sullivan County Community College has decided to dismember the Library and wrongfully terminate the Liberian, who had an impeccable 8 year work history. The leadership of SCCC must reverse the decision dismantling the library and reinstate Ms Oates immediately.
