Israel once had defensible borders and a demographic majority. This was ruined by a long line of invaders (Romans, Arabs, Turks, etc.) and the self-interest of the WW1 victors. The Roman Empire (based in Rome, later Constantinople) adopted Christianity, with the Catholic Church based in Rome and Eastern Orthodoxy in Constantinople. For centuries, when ruling over the mostly ignorant masses, they used the Jews as scapegoats. The New Testament text that Jews killed and tortured Jesus is obviously a willful inclusion of the then occupying Roman censor (also including “Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's” to facilitate tax collection), who found the Jews a troublesome people they could not subdue. The major problem was not due to indigenous Jews or those of the Christian sect but that the Roman occupier worked and taxed the local population so heavily that it brought about endless revolts. Later major Christian leader-priests like Martin Luther, through his speeches and writings (e.g. On the Jews and their Lies) had a direct and very negative effect on so-called Christian countries during the Holocaust. To give Israel non-defensible borders in 1948 and to prevent their achievement in 1967 was also based upon a deep-seated bigotry against the Jews as well as Arab lobbying to control as much of the Mediterranean as they could. As for why there is a problem with Arab Muslims today we need only look at Arab armies and their proselytizing Islamic religion. No one remembers the Muslim massacres of Jews in their long-held oasis towns of the Arabian Peninsula (see Khaibar 628 CE). Muslims continued to expand to conquer Israel (634- 637 CE) and the huge expanse composing the Muslim world today.
