Since the beginning of 2014, more than 215,000 people in Darfur have been displaced from their homes feeling that they have no choice but to flee their homes in fear due to the ongoing attacks on civilian areas and camps linked to government-backed force, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).President Omar al-Bashir continues to dismiss these allegations despite US activist groups releasing satellite images showing devastation in an area of Darfur where Janjaweed fighters were recently present. The Janjaweed are a government-backed militia blamed for widespread killings in the Darfur region.

As US Deapartment Official John Prendergast states "This new incarnation of Janjaweed fighters … supported by the Khartoum government, are now attacking Darfur civilians and torching homes on a scale not seen since 2003," South Sudan analyst Akshaya Kumar said the images "offer independent evidence of the Sudanese army's war crimes." According to the United Nations since 2013 a minimum of 460,000 people have been displaced as a result of attacks from the Sudanese army an armed movements, resulting in the deaths of around 300,000 people. President Omar al-Bashir continues to dispute these figures and has managed to stay in power despite rebellions, US trade sanction and an indictment from the International Criminal Court on charges which include:

Five Counts of Crimes against humanity (Murder, Extermination, Forcible Transfer, Torture and Rape)

Two Counts of War Crimes (Intentionally directing attacks against a civilian population and pillaging)

Three Counts of Genocide (Killing, Causing Serious Bodily or Mental Harm and Deliberately Inflicting Conditions of Life Calculated to Bring about a Groups Physical Destruction)

We hope that by creating this petition we can raise awareness throughout the general public across the UK and throughout Europe, so that Khartoum's war crimes and human rights abuses do not go unrecognized as this topic is often unrepresented in the worlds media. Through increasing global awareness of this conflict we aim to put more pressure on governing bodies such as the UN to force a reformation in the Sudanese Government installing a system more responsive to Sudan's Ethnic and Religious Diversity and an end to the oppression and suffering of its people.
