About 5 years ago Maui Memorial closed its Molokini ward which helped countless teens and adolescents who are challenged with mental illness. Since then and especially since CoVid 19 started our teen and adolescent population on Maui have been suffering from not having our own acute inpatient treatment facility on island. Please help me in supporting this cause. Upon receiving as many signatures as possible, I would like to encourage support from public officials here on Maui as well as the staff and board of directors at Maui Memorial Hospital.

Updates

November 8, 2020

The momentum behind this push to bring the Molokini ward back is undeniable. Call the office of your local representative today and demand they prioritize adolescent mental health. Text the link to three neighbors to ensure our community keeps the pressure on hospital leadership.

Youth mental health on Maui shouldn't be something that gets shoved on the back burner. It should always be a top priority. I wasn't able to get the help I needed until well into my early adult years.

Our youth need to have places to help them with their mental health issues. Every community should have a facility close to the families , so the family can be there to help with the recovery.

Starting this petition is a leap of courage for me. Our youth deserve the best on Maui and those who have mental health challenges shouldn’t have to go to another island for treatment.

Thank you. For reaching out. I struggled with some issues in my teens and know support is so important for our youth. Mahalo
