I was mortars for 12 years I have massive headaches and hearing damage

I have several neurological issues that I believe to be service connected from firing heavy mortars. Being either the gunner or squad leader my intire 6 years put me in the worse position as far as overpressure exposure is concerned. Plus I was in the service while we wore the steel pots. That made it worse as well.

My claim for TBI was denied because I can still work, apparently my symptoms do not matter. Both ears have tinnitus, but only recieve 10%, when should be 30%

Regardless of the hazards, we’ll still do it. However, leaders need to understand the sacrifices we’re making while protecting the country.

I exhibit several symptoms related to my time as a heavy mortar crewmember.

There is nothing “low level” about the after effects of prolonged firing of heavy Mortars in Training or Combat. The only roadblock I see to this moving forward would be the cost to the VA and the DOD. Updating and amending current VA claims of 11C/0341 Soldiers/Marines. We all knew Serving involved sacrifice, but we were never told just doing your job will lead to brain damage. SFC(R)/11C Perron, Raymond R.

I am the wife of a veteran and I have seen first hand the daily battle my husband fights with constant headaches/ migraines, at times- deteriorating thought processes, and memory loss because of his military training and occupation. The scientific data coupled with the plethora of doctors that have worked with him...all concur that his consistent exposure to the blast overpressure have damaged his brain and his quality of life. I love my husband, he is fighting a hard battle, and he needs your help for himself and his brothers in arms.
