Stop the IOW council bringing in the ban of dogs in public spaces

If the Council carried through and fined owners for not picking up after the dogs this would not be an issue. Why should responsible dog owners be penalised for the failings of others. If dogs were kept on the lead their owners would have no excuse for not picking up as they would be aware.

My dog loves the beach and I always clear up after her. To stop people taking their dogs into the beaches when there are so many dog owners and tourists who enjoy this activity so much is so narrow minded and completely ignoring far more important issues that the council should be dealing with. Listen to your public IoW council!!

About time the IOW Council did something positive... instead of wasting the tax payers money coming up with stupid schemes like this!

Ridiculous proposal. Why do they never seem to realise that we dog owners also pay council tax, volunteer, pay our taxes, run businesses - all the things that enable councils to run anything. They don’t ban people with children - imagine! So don’t ban us with our dogs!

I can't really believe this is true.I have recently bought a home to live here because it is so dog-friendly and inclusive. I would move away if these changes were to happen. An 'own goal' indeed. Perhaps the Isle of Wight Council should take a survey of how many residents are dog-owners.

This is a rediculos plan! Tourism is the main industry and this will deter dog owners visiting. It's also very unpractical to enforce too!!!!! Personally I'd prefer children banned and I am a mother of 2 and a responsible dog owner!!!!! Bad mannered and unruly children are as unacceptable as unruly dogs/dogs of unthoughtful/irresponsible owners.

A ban on dogs will be a massive own goal. I plan to return to the IoW for a holiday next year one of the attractions is the fantastic dog friendly walks. If these will no longer be possible I will elsewhere for my holiday. I suspect I will not be alone

Our island is dependant on the tourist trade, many people visit know they can take their dogs on our wonderful beaches out of season.

An absolute ridiculous idea. My dog is a member of my family. What next? Ban all children & everyone over 60. Destroy tourism. I'm so ashamed of the Council that are ruining this beautiful Island that my family & I of many generations were born & brought up on

I am signing this as I love walking my little Pebbles along the beach and taking her with me when I can. She loves swimming in the sea at St Helens, this is the only beach I have managed to do this. Please don’t spoil it for the dog walkers.

Why oh why?. When other councils are promoting dog friendly holiday destinations.

I grew up on the island and still have all my family on the island who I visit with my dog. It would be a shame to outright ban dogs from beaches as he loves his trips to the beach.

This is ridiculous, there are far more responsible than not!!!

Dogs are part of families all over the Isle of Wight. Are they never to go out of their houses? To run and play? To be enjoying days out on our lovely island with their family? These restrictions on dogs being in public places has no thought for the islands dog loving community at all in my opinion.

Don't let the minority spoil it for the responsible dog owners on the island.

Dogs need somewhere off lead where they can play too.
