Stop the IOW council bringing in the ban of dogs in public spaces

Better employing to catch irresponsible owners not picking up their dogs mess, and this will affect many elderly people, it’s just stupid

I will stop visiting the IOW if my dogs are no longer welcome at the beaches and open spaces

There are most probably more dogs on the Isle of Wight than there are people. We don’t ban people from public spaces. Nor should we ban dogs. They haven’t been in the past, and why should we now? Are there statistics to support why this should happen and on what basis?

What a joke these morons at the council are.

I think this is a stupid idea. Most people think of there dogs as part of there family. Would you stop a person going somewhere.

Please allow dogs in all areas, we won't be able to visit if we have to leave our dog on the other side of the water!

Penalise irresponsible owners who don't pick up. Dogs need to have somewhere to run free.

What a stupid thing to do!!!! How about banning the people that mess and don’t pick up after there dogs!!!!

Banning our beloved furry family members from places to enjoy such as the beaches around the island is a ridiculous idea, or from visiting lost family members at their place of rest so that they can say their goodbyes and pay respect. The ban would not only affect the joy of the residents and their pets, but also the tourists whom bring their beloved four legged family members with them on their trips down to the island also. Businesses would suffer due to the lack of tourism that it would bring with the ban; many dog walkers use beaches as a good place to let their clients dogs burn off energy and enjoy the scenery while giving them plenty of exercise. However, considering the playground side of things I can understand. I would not consider banning dogs from playgrounds but would instead say that they are to be kept on lead for not only their own safety but also the children playing in the area also.

Do they realise how many visitors come over due to the fact the island is SO dog friendly?!

This council should be focusing on more important things in our community,come on get a grip!

This is rediculous!

Absolutely ridiculous. We should be encouraging tourism, not turning away those simply because they have one of the most, if not THE most popular pet.

The Island is such a wonderful place to come and walk. So many of us as residents and visitors have dogs which are part of our family and our wellbeing and walking on the beaches are some of the best walks possible. I ask that at the very least a ban only applies during the summer months (ie April to September) and between the hours of say 10am and 6pm.

absolutely ridiculous idea, dogs love the sea and open spaces and are part of life. our dogs were loved by the children when we took them to the wreck in Cowes, needs to be laws about removing dog excrement though
