To allow visitation at NYS Nursing Homes, without having to be 28 days Covid-free.

It’s time...the toll on these families is too great and worse than any risk of the virus.

My 92 year old mother is on the precipice of dementia. She needs to see her family’s faces and hear their voices. Saw her once since March, then there were two consecutive 28 day periods with no visitation allowed due to 2 different staff members having consecutive positive Covid tests. This is beyond sad and so unfair to my mother and Our family. There is no reason that we can’t we meet with our mother outside, distanced and wearing masks. It is Cruel, and the 28 day rule should not replace the 14 day rule that has been recommended by health professionals.

I’d like to know whose parents have thrived in a nursing home since Covid

My mom has dementia and the lack of interaction with anyone at the nursing home let alone her family that we’re there 5 times a week has taken a horrible toll on my mom. Her cognitive decline has increased three fold since the visit ban started. PLEASE we need a better system in place to allow family access to their loved ones.

This is sadistic. Ordered out, order us in. No one will decide let family in for political reasons. Ombudsman are USELESS and practically non-existent at this point. The real watchdogs are called family. For profit want to keep us out because no accountability. DOH dysfunctional disorganization and have no idea of the conditions within ANY facility. My mother dehydrated 4x's, 3 documented UTI's diagnosed by outside hospital admissions for Covid. Survived Covid but needed a permanent PEG tube. My mother has lost the ability to speak. She cries every morning, confined to a 12x12 room. I will purchase a HAZMAT suit because make no mistake when they open for visitation it will be blamed for the 2nd wave, be ready.

This mandate has to stop now! My mom is dead — not from Covid — but from neglect and abandonment because nobody has eyes and ears on what is going on in nursing homes. Our elders are dying from broken hearts and neglect. Governor Cuomo and Commissioner Zucker are heartless. Keep fighting like your beloved mom’s and/or dad’s life depends on it — because it does!

This is very unfair to residents & all family & friends, that they can't vusit love ones very cruel.

As long as there are alternatives forkeeping safe

This has gone quite far enough. We have done all that was asked in order to flatten the curve and reduce the numbers. Not only has the curve been flattened but the numbers are minuscule. Let us see our loved ones. They need our love, they need our presence. Please do the right thing. Thank you.

End the long duration especially if the staff members are staff that have ZERO patient contact. Every time a number of days goes for awhile....a non patient contact staff member ruins it for everyone. Broken heart syndrome is a fatal disease. Let family members in before 28 days. I keep track and have averaged 12 days before "alert calls" go out. Please let us see our families.

My grandmother that I had lived with for for years. I haven't seen her since March 15. I have never in my life missed not one week seeing her. I only see her threw a dirty discosting window.That I think that I am the only one that had cleaned every month. Now that the 28 day roul is in effect. It appears by the time the 28 th day gets heir a positive test comes in and by the second test results come in they consider it to be a false positive. Now her 97 birthday came and gone April 3rd and we missed it. And my entire family had to miss it. Now I am not sure on the dates. But I shame on our Goveners disition not to use the beds supplied by our government and our Presedent.To use for our sick COVID 19 paitents.Now look who suffers . Me my wife and daughter. Bathed feed and changed my Grandmothers dipers clothed her for two and a half years for free. Before making that horrible disition on putting her in a nursing home. I have explained to the home manegment. If we are visiting outside it should be ok. We are not inside we will be masked and we would maintain our 6 ft roul. Well we were supposed to see her this Wednesday and guess what. Another positive CV 19 worker. Can some one help me.

Everyone should be allowed to see their loved ones with every precaution taken to keep everyone safe

Compassionate care is allowing our elders last memories of loved ones.

I WANT TO SEE MY BROTHER! I MISS HIM! Why can't the units that are quarantined just not get any visitors, but the rest of the Nursing Home can? Please.

My mom has Dementia and it's extremely difficult for her to understand whats going on. We are her life line and we need to be able to see her, touch her so she know she hasn't been abandoned.

This is so unfair to the residents and family. I hope there is change very soon.
