- Current Tiny Township Bylaws prohibit Backyard Chickens in Residential zones (HR1). As the Township moves towards a farm fresh self sustaining lifestyle, it seems only natural to allow residents to have chickens in their yards to go along with this way of life. Back yard chickens is growing in popularity every year. Back yard chickens don't smell. Back yard chickens are not noisy (Unless you were silly enough to get a rooster) . Back yard chickens eat the bugs that ruin your yard. Back yard chickens are a life learning experience (and not just for kids) . Back yard chickens have the BEST eggs. Back yard chickens create responsibility in children. Back yard chickens don't wander . Back yard chickens make great pets. Back yard chickens should be allowed in every rural town, city, village in Simcoe County.

i have been talking to some people at the township and they are surprised by how many of you want these chickens. keep sharing your stories because they are starting to listen to us.

i cant believe how much energy is behind this movement right now. seeing so many people excited about backyard chickens is exactly the push we need to change these bylaws for good.

My husband and I plan to grow our family, and we wish for the day we can take our children outside to collect farm fresh eggs for our morning family breakfasts
Yes please. Keep them clean and limit the amount per lot and it will be fine. Most people just want to be a bit more self sufficient.
Its honestly ridiculous that the township is still fighting this. Fresh eggs from your own yard are delicious and way healthier than store bought ones.
back yard chickens , no roosters, only so many, depends on the size of the property
I agree with backyard chickens as long as the owners make sure the chickens are looked after and clean
Hens will help reduce home waste. Any greens and lefts overs can be fed to our birds. Daily eggs for personal use and reduce waste going to the dump. It’s a win, win!

So many good lessons are learned for the kids of families with backyard chickens. So positive for the environment and the eggs are fabulous!! It is a great hobby and so good for the mental health of the people caring for the chickens.
