Tina Toma for 1L President.
My name is Tina Toma and I am running for President of our 1L class. I am a first-generation Chaldean woman, and the first person in my family to graduate with a college degree.
I graduated from Wayne State University with a Bachelors of Business (BBA) in 2017, and a Masters of Business (MBA) in 2019. I spent the following two years preparing to attend law school. During this time I also worked in the procurement department of one of the largest automotive suppliers in the world. I feel so fortune to be joining the Detroit Mercy Law School's class of 2024 as a deans fellow.
After spending the last 6 years exploring the city of Detroit, I really feel that I have built a social network in the city that would assist me in this role. I have a keen eye for detail, and I have a lot of passion and pride for the things that I involve myself with. I have always been the mom in my friend group, and I want to help make people feel loved and that their voice and opinions matter.
I hope to be a president that represents our class with dignity and respect. No person is an island, and I want our classmates to feel comfortable addressing any concerns that may arise, and provide constructive feedback on how I can help make this the best class Detroit Mercy Law has ever seen!
