When Nathan Boddie chose to try to undermine the credibility of Moey Newbold with an allegation of substance abuse--a medical condition--and claimed she was somehow conspiring with Future PAC against him, he crossed over to the dark side. Staying in a race he cannot win helps the Republicans, not progressives. He needs to do the right thing and quit this race.

Dr Boddie's behavior & denial is unbecoming of a political candidate running for OR House District 54. His public accusations of Moey Newbold have been absolutely scurrilous. Now is the time to step down, Dr Boddie.

Nathan’s attack on Moey Newbold by accusing her of mental illness and substance abuse was slanderous, unethical and unprofessional. It verified the truth of her allegation and makes him unfit for office.
Additionally it reflected a prejudice, as bad as a racial slur, on the very many people who do suffer from the many variants of mental illness and widespread substance abuse. This slur on this very large category (which includes people suffering from depression, anxiety and many mood states classified as a category of mental illness) as people who can’t be honest, or who deserve to be sexually assaulted.
Moey took a courageous stand for interests outside of her own- the constiuents and the thousands of women in every generation who’ve experienced situations similar to this.

Mr. Boddie has lied about a number of things, casting doubt on honorable people. Shame on him.

An unwillingness to step down is not only tone-deaf but also hands this purple seat to the Republicans. Even if Nathan believes he’s totally innocent of any wrongdoing (he’s obviously not) my first statement holds.
