It's TIME to RE-INSTATE a VICE-PRINCIPAL at ST PAUL
WE, THE PARENTS OF ST PAUL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL REQUEST THE RE-INSTATEMENT OF A VICE-PRINCIPAL.
IT IS CLEAR that the abolishment of the Vice Principal position in 2012 because St Paul did not have a student population of “500” is unfounded as statistics provided then and during the rezoning situation between St Paul & Terry Fox clearly pointed that enrollment numbers would decrease, not increase. (Ref. Independent study conducted by Ameresco during consultation period)
IT IS CLEAR that this benchmark number “500” established at the School Board in order to have a Vice Principal in a school was clearly an unattainable earmark then and now. Current student population: 439
IT IS CLEAR that the rezoning that took place between St Paul & Terry Fox was in no way favourable to the St Paul Community as in September 2013 there were only a handful of students that came from Terry Fox. In fact, had the rezoning been carried out differently, including not ‘grandfathering’ Terry Fox students for an additional year, St Paul would have had a greater number of students in its current enrollment figures.
IT IS CLEAR THAT, albeit there is minimal staff assistance granted at this time, only 25% vs the 50% that was initially granted when St Paul first lost its Vice Principal, it is insufficient for the needs of the school and most importantly, for the safety & well-being of the children.
ULTIMATELY, IT IS CLEAR that removing a teacher from a classroom to perform staff assistant duties is disruptive to the children & creates instability for them. Should not their education and sense of well-being outweigh the cost of reinstating a Vice-Principal?
