As students, we should have the right to take the classes we want to take... not the classes the University of Kentucky requires us to take. We are the ones paying for these classes and wasting our time studying for these pointless classes that do not apply to our major. We should be taking classes that future employers desire! We should also be taking classes that give us knowledge that applies to our major, not filling our heads with information we do not need. Our solution is to reduce the amount of UK core and create personal requirements for each major. These requirements will be based of skills employers desire, prerequisites that are required to give students skills applying to their major, and recommendations of classes by professors in each departments. With these three suggestions, we will find the perfect cohesive schedule for each major at UK. Once we have the needed signatures for this petition, we will propose our plan to the provost Christine Riordan and our president, Eli Capiluto. We deserve the change!
