Tighter regulations for Kentucky commercial fishing

It's way overdue fix it now

I plan on fishing these waters in the near future and would like to see the commercial fishermen not keep so many trophy fish

Just got our wish here at Lake Tawakoni in Texas to help preserve our Trophy Catfish in the lake. I'm for helping preserve all trophy fish no matter the species all over the USA. Keeping regulations on fish and game to help preserve them is key for the future. While other may not agree and want to harvest any and all fish caught on a given day. There is no reason to waste a trophy fish to a knife when you could release the fish for the next guy to experience the excitement of fighting and landing it themselves.

The commercial fishermen and pay Lakers are taking my Grand children's big cats and it needs to stop. Tighten the regs on both those offenders and police them.

Commercial regs that are too weak will - without fail - ultimately have the undesirable result of negatively impacting KY fisheries. This is very important to me as a catfish advocate who wants to see current and future generations of recreational anglers enjoy great catfishing - especially for trophies.

I spend thousand of dollars a year in Kentucky catfishing. I'm from Indianapolis and travel to the Ohio River weekly. Commercial fishing has devastated portions of the Ohio River. My money will be going to tennesee and Alabama.

No live fish transported and possession limit a must imo

Commercial fisherman needs stricter regulations. Quit selling catfish to paylakes to make money. Also most of the trophy fish that is sold to paylakes are dead in a matter of months. That is a proven fact. Wonder why the paylakes are always posting on social media saying there always stocking fish. Needs to stop asap!

Please restrict people taking catfish from public waters and selling them to private pay lakes. This is hurting the catfish population in public waters.

too many of these big fish are gone because they go to the pay lakes , and then they just keep charging people to catch them these fish need to be left in their natural habitat for people to catch and release if they choose to do that

A wild animal should be keep wild. Unless used for for food. Not profit.

I am 38 years old and have fished the Ohio River my entire life. There was a time when my brother and I could go out on any given weekend and put at least 1-5 flatheads in the boat that would weigh 30+ pounds. The last time I caught a flathead over 30 pounds, in waters bordering KY was in 2010. Prior to that I had caught more than I can count. I am strictly a catch and release angler when it comes to catfish on the river. To see a fishery that once held many trophy catfish has been completely ruined by the commercial fisherman. You can't take 10's of thousands of pounds of trophy fish out of a body of water without there being an adverse effect on the fishery. These fish are being caught in hoop nets by the truckloads and are going to pay lakes. Once they leave the river they are going to a certain death. People catch the fish a few times then once they starve to death, they float to the top and are thrown in the dumpster. It is tragic that this is allowed to continue to happen. Please do something about this issue for the future of the sport.

Catfish need to be made a sport fish. The sale of catfish from natural waters to pay lakes must be stopped.

We need tighter regulations and additional protections for catfish.
