This is a petition to change the current bylaw in Three Hills that prohibits keeping chickens within town limits.

Benefits of Urban Chickens:

• Living Composters – Chickens eat food waste, preventing huge amounts of biomass from being sent to the landfill, and they provide great organic compost for the garden!
• Weed & Pest Control – Chickens eat all manner of harmful bugs like ticks (Lyme disease), fleas, mosquitos, grasshoppers, stink bugs, slugs, and even mice, baby rats, and small snakes. They also eat weed seeds, making chemical pesticides unnecessary and preventing them from entering the water and food supply.
• Educational – having chickens in town makes it easy for school classes to take walking field trips to see real chickens and learn about them, studying them as they are raised in a their natural habitat.
• Fresh eggs for their owners.
