We don't pretend for a moment that governing a synagogue is an easy thing, or that important decisions are made lightly. We know how important it is for our congregation to remain solvent, and vital, and growing.

We recognize the constant tension between spiritual and material needs, so that the board's emphasis must always balance concern for our fiscal viability and for the maintenance of our very reason for being.

The undersigned members of this congregation care deeply about this temple AND for the spiritual leadership and guidance Rabbi Ken Carr has provided for us during the past 14 years. We truly believe that this rabbi, our rabbi, embodies the Torah values we all cherish and hope to transmit to the next generation. We don't want to lose him. As we plan for the future of this synagogue, it would be a shame to give up the valuable resource we have for and unknown candidate with greater financial promise.

We urge you to consider how imperative this feels to many of us.
