Finn Academy- An Elmira Charter School is the project of a group of parents, community members, and educators who are passionately committed to providing an excellent education for our students.

For the benefit of our community, our group plans to submit an application on April 15, 2013 for a charter in Elmira, We will be submitting this application to the Charter Institute of the State University of New York. If approved, the school will open for grades K-2 in September 2014.

Charter schools are free, public schools. To encourage innovation and outside-the-box thinking, the state funds excellent charter school proposals to improve learning outcomes for students. The mission of Finn Academy will be to provide:

Extended Days

Extended academic year, including summer program

Active learning and dynamic teachers

Project based learning (community/real life experiences)

Emphasis on the Arts

Health & Fitness Program

Commitment to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics)

Closing gaps in Literacy and Math
