The budget committee officially restored the school funding we fought to protect. This victory belongs to all 2,306 of you who refused to let them balance the books on the backs of our kids. Keep your eyes on the local board to ensure this money hits the classrooms as promised.

We, the undersigned, urge state lawmakers to make state funding for education a priority.

We believe that providing our children with a quality education benefits our communities and our state and helps ensure a prosperous future for all.

Nebraska has a constitutional obligation to provide for public education. Few other programs rise to the level of a constitutional obligation. We also believe we have a moral obligation to provide our children with a quality education.

Yes, we need to balance the budget -- but not on the backs of children.
