Theta Iota Chapter Lack of Inclusion on Greek Mural- West Chester University

I,as a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc.,part of the Divine 9 fraternities and sororities,respectfully submit that the omission of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority's coat of arms from the student center is an egregious affront to that amazing organization that has helped the community since its inception in 1908.Service to all mankind has been its creed and motivation and thousands can attest to that exemplary record. A temporary aberration to that record should not exclude them from being included on the walls of the student center. I personally know several members of the original Charter line "The Weeping 13"--paragons of community service and dedication!!! I strongly recommend that this exclusion be rescinded and that Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. be added to the student center's wall. As of 8-26-23 the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Theta Iota Chapter at West Chester University has not been added to the WCU Fraternities and Sororities public presentation that is mounted in Sykes College Student Union building.

as an incoming freshman i was deeply looking forward to pledging with the AKA’s!! it was extremely disheartening to find out they are currently inactive.

This is disrespectful of WCU to the history of Theta Iota chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority Inc. I hope that they reconsider this decision of exclusion. We need Alpha Kappa Alpha back on campus. Please come back.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. has been a stable at West Chester University. It has cultivated phenomenal Women in Leadership throughout our Nation. This organization has been instrumental in shaping the lives, and future of countless women at West Chester University. It would be a great travesty, and misjudgment of Character to exclude Alpha Kappa Sorority Inc. Theta Iota Chapter from such a historical period of time on the West Chester University campus. We certainly hope this decision will be reversed, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Theta Iota Chapter will be represented, during this moment of WCU history. This is a total disgrace!

As a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, West Chester University initiate and a Proud Graduate of West Chester University, I voice my concern of not having Alpha Kappa Alpha included on this recognition of Greek Lettered organizations! I enjoyed 4 years as a student at West Chester University and paid Tuition and have supported Wesr Chester University. The actions of a few should not reflect the work of the many. The community service projects provided by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority have been on going since its inception on West Chester University campus!!

My attendance at West Chester started years 1977-1982. I served as members of Alpha Kappa Alpha; Black Student Union; and Peer Counselor of ACT 101 students of the college. I am totally annoyed of the administrators decision to stand against the DERVERSITY which we past members contributed to making WCU relevant to attend if one could not be in an HBCU school. Any such movement to deny my sorority the history we deserve will not go without merit to the college.

Oh no! This cannot happen. Our nearly 50-year legacy should not be disregarded.

We are part of the history of Greek life at West Chester University. It is only appropriate that the Theta Iota Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha be a part of a display that represents Greek life on our campus.

This is unacceptable. If another chapter is temporarily suspended, will their plaque be removed? I doubt it, and therefore, look forward to a resolution.

Theta Iota was one of the FIRST Greek letter organizations at WCU especially for Afro Americans! WHY is Alpha Kappa Alpha NOT included?

This atrocity must be reversed and thus rectified.. .
