Fabric, tile and carpet samples are daily facts of life for a designer. Much of the time, old or unwanted samples are simply tossed into the trash where they will contribute to landfill. How many dumpsters have you filled with old samples because of laziness New York City alone throws out enough garbage each day to fill the Empire State Building. In the US, 4.39 pounds of trash per day and up to 56 tons of trash per year are created by the average person (via cleanair.org). By signing this petition, you vow to return unwanted samples to the manufacturer for them to recycle, diverting them from landfill. This petition also serves to encourage those manufacturers who have not yet adopted a recycling program to do so, and to provide designers with return labels. A small and easy step like this can make a difference. Be responsible and take action.
