Since September 11th there has been a rapid errosion of many of the protections afforded us, as American citizens, under the Constitution. We are losing our right to privacy, through increased \"powers\" for the investigative arms of the government. We are losing our rights to a trial and not being held without a hearing. We are losing our freedom of speech (why should a celebrity refrain from speaking their mind and opinions just as any of us can) and people are being penalized for thinking and saying thoughts that go opposite what the government tells us. States are trying to define what love is and how it may be implemented by banning same-sex marriages and other benefits for same-sex couples. And we are losing the separation of religion and state. This country, founded on the basis of religion without persecution, is trying to force all children to give thanks to a god they may not believe in and that the writer of the poem did not include in his original draft. I think it is time that all good American\'s stand up and acknowledge the freedoms we have for each any every one of us, not just those that agree with us in matters of politics, religion, or whatever someone thinks is acceptable. This country is great because everyone is supposed to have the same protections, the same freedoms, the same rights. We need to get back there.
