On 5th July 2006, The Shins left a message on their website stating that they have dropped out of this summer\'s Carling Weekend: Reading and Leeds festivals because they are \'working hard on their new album\'. To many, this excuse does not seem satisfactory, as myself and many others I know were going to the festival purely to see The Shins play. This lack of respect for the fans is frustrating, especially after a similar event happened in 2004 when The Shins dropped out of Scotland\'s T in the Park festival just weeks before the event. Us Shins fans deserve better; by signing this, maybe we could persuade the band to change their mind. I can\'t imagine a better festival band with their original brand of indie-pop surely bound to win over the audiences. Any support given is gratefully received; and to anyone feeling as strongly as myself on the topic could spread the word of this petition, i.e. posting it on relevant forums, MySpace, etc.
