Elvis is King! I have been attending for 24 years. They need to go back to basics and make it more affordable, ie, put the local beer tents back up, and stop overcharging for tickets.

I have attended this festival for years and travel with a lot of other fans from all over southern Ontario. We shop and spend money when we come to Collingwood. Please continue the festival!

Elvis was and still is an integral part of music. The festival brings together multiple generations, cultures, races and brings back the true feeling of love, unity and good times. Keep the festival going.

The Festival has helped put Collingwood on the world's map. It brings revenue in for many of the local businesses - those that wish to participate. It provides excellent entertainment to thousands. To end it now would be very sad.

I am writing in Support of the Collingwood Elvis Festival, As a Festival organiser there are some things that I think the council needs to consider. !st every tourist that visits your area brings money to the Town, as one of those people I can tell you it costs me anywhere from 1000.00 to 1500.00 each time I come to the festival. This money is spent in B&B,s or motels, I eat one meal a day at our residence for that week and then we are at restaurants in the Town for the rest of our meals, I say our because we are a group of 6 to 10 people that don't live in the area in fact it is a 6 hour drive to collingwood for us. We grocery shop in collingwood to get the food that we eat at the residence when there and we also go to the LCBO. I have done a lot of shopping for clothes when there and not at the vendors but at the stores that are there all year. Last year my visa took a hit of 400.00 spent on clothes. If your legitimace for shutting down collingwood Elvis Festival is due to businesses not making money on that time frame, I call hog wash.
The other aspect of holding a festival in your town is that you have a wonderful opportunity to decrease your tax base for the people who live there. When people come to a festival they look around at the town and they often decide that they like the place and then consider retiring there from the city when it is time for that to happen in there life. This will in turn cause property that would otherwise be left vacant by deceased members of the community to be purchased by new people coming to the town and so then the assessments are still there for the property. The taxes are payed and the town flourishes.
I could go on with many reasons to continue the Festival in Collingwood but I think that you all ready have the information that I could give you. and so my Question to the council are you on a different agenda that is personal rather than for the benefit of your town.
Of course this is just my opinion and I feel that ot
Elvis can’t leave Collingwood.
