This new policy needs to be amended for a plethora of reasons. First off, and probably the most important, is the emergency communication factor. If there is something like an immediate death or hospitalization of someone in your family, how else would you know right at that moment what's going on? This is your family who you hold near and dear to your heart and the school board shouldn't take away that right to know if there is an emergency, to keep you updated or to say that your parents are coming to dismiss you because this means too much to them and you and want to make sure everything goes swimmingly. What if my police officer dad gets seriously injured in a violent protest or just protecting and serving? If you were in my shoes, you would want to be fully updated because you wouldn't want to lose your father, or anyone at all, due to the actions of one individual so we need to know immediately whats happening. My next reason is for academic purposes. Is the school board seriously ignoring the one reason our schools are set up, which is to give us an education? There are plenty of apps and technological tools that will assist us in getting that education we want, need, and deserve from going to school every day. What if you forget what you have to do for homework but want to find out so you can do it and not take the zero? You should be able to find out from a classmate when you're home what it is if they have it and if they can send you via picture the questions assigned for homework if you don't already have it. The board is completely ignoring the fact that one of the schools in our district is Worcester TECH. My final point I will make is some of the mental reasoning. Sometimes us teenagers can go through depression depending on how they feel. Even at school they feel unsafe because they are in the presence of a fellow student known to bully them and have been charged for a crime and have been kicked out before. Both depression and unsafe feelings du

The entire school board of the Worcester Public schools are nowhere close to our generation . They didnt have the technology that we have now , they ban what they do NOT understand . Keeping kids away from their technology in this era , only makes it worse for them , it doesn't make anything better . i agree that there are kids who abuse the cell phones . But on the other hand the are kids who NEED the technology . whether it be academically , or if they just need to relieve their stress in study hall , or the cafeteria or any other time in which classes are not in session . The school board bans what they don't understand .

School Board is made up of people who aren't in our generation; they will never understand how technology will benefit us. Instead they're worried about what it will DO to us.

WPS is fighting a losing battle. My friend got a detention for using his phone AT LUNCH. People NEED to check their phones in between classes and at lunch, or they'll be even more distracted IN CLASS about what they're missing.

Technlogy helps us study and we need phones just in case of a emergency.

I mean come on now. Emergencies exist and you can't take away our number one way of communicating to parents/guardians.

It's honestly the stupidest rule they could ever make. We have the world at our hands and we aren't even allowed to use it..i understand not using it to text but for music that's insane.
