My last name is L'Ammoux.
It means "The Eagle Wolf."
It is a badge of honor.
I have no tribe affiliation
but I am of the Wolf Clan.
The sanctity of the Wolf
is misunderstood
and I hope to clarify
what it means to be Wolf.

Over 3000 years ago, the Rigvedas describe the Wolf as a "Plough"—this is one of the many meanings given in Sanskrit to वृक—Vṛka. The word/glyph means:
•Wolf
•Plough
•Thunderbolt
•Sun
•Moon
•Crow

If a Thunderbolt killed a number of cattle, would it be rational to start shooting at each Thunderbolt you saw—or go on hunting trips to find Thunderbolts to kill?

No. You would believe it an act of nature and take the loss.

If floods or snow killed a number of cattle, would you be disposed to chase every drop of water or flake of snow to eradicate any possible future damage to your cattle?

No. You would believe it an act of nature and take the loss.

But when The Wolf arrives, and does the work of Nature by killing cattle, you become comfortable with the idea that you have a face of the enemy and you feel justified in murdering The Wolf by the dozens. You feel it is reasonable to seek out Wolf Cubs, who've barely begun life, and destroy them—and you feel glad in doing this.

This magnitude of illogical thinking is dangerous: for Wolf and for Nature.

The Wolf is NOT your enemy. It does not have any feelings for you. It does not have a grudge against cattle. It does not care about anything other than what it was created to do—and that is: to keep the balance of Life and Death.

This is its Sacred Duty. Many call The Wolf a "keystone" species and it is, as its behaviour aligns with Nature, and The Wolf hunts other species and removes the weakest, the oldest, and the diseased. It cleans the carrion of fallen animals and removes the flesh that may have the potential for disease. Entire ecosystems depend on The Wolf to "plough" what needs removing, making a way for healthier, stronger stock for the benefit of all.

The Wolf has many qualities that, if found in a human, would be considered admirable. They have a rigid pack culture that can be multi-generational. They mate for life. They hunt in formations that insure the safety of all pack members. They are hard-working and never take a day off. They take only what needs taken.

Family Oriented—Monogamous—Protective—Diligent—Unselfish

Wolves in Norse mythology, Sköll chases the Sun and Hati chases the Moon;
Fenrir holds justice within its jaws. These are metaphors, not unlike the name usages in the Rigvedas, to describe the role of The Wolf—to keep the balance of Day and Night—of Life and Death.

Wolves in Native tribes are revered, as it is believed that The Wolf walked the Earth long before humans. Wolf Clans exist in may tribes and pay homage to the Sacred Spirit of the Wolf—be it a Noble Creator, Lord of the Dead, or Brother Guardian:
•Jiibayaabooz
•Moqwaio
•Malsumsa
•Pia'is
•Tivaci
•Ma'iingan

The Wolf killed buffalo long before any cattle were on this continent. Both were wild and each fulfilled its role in Nature. No one sought to extinguish The Wolf for doing its job. But then Man came, and the Natives, the Language, the Land, the Buffalo—all suffered because they were aligned with Nature...and Man was not.

Man removed the flora and fauna of Nature, and built large, mostly barren tracts of land for their animal husbandry—but it is not—it is large corporate breeding (1).
In the American West, acre upon acre is filled with heads of domesticated food stock that are not indigenous. The ecosystem has been replaced with the beef system, and The Wolf whose instincts drive him, sets his sight on cattle to correct the imbalance of having too many heads that do not answer to the natural cycle of Life and Death.

It was this imbalance that furthered the hunting of The Wolf and put it on the Endangered Species list in the first place. Now, having been removed from the list, The Wolf is again being hunted and killed by the dozen.

But this is not the complete picture of how horribly wrong the ecosystem has become. The depletion of The Wolf in Eastern Canada and USA has caused wolves to mate with coyotes, and creating the dangerous Coyote-Wolf hybrid: Coywolves (2). They are not creatures of the wild like The Wolf—they are aggressive, adaptable hunters who have infiltrated into suburbs and cities, and have no instinct for balance as much as catching any meal at any time—your pets and your child included.
If the Coywolf population was not alarming enough, the genetics of these hunters have been shown to have also bred with the domesticated dog—a species that has spent thousands of years being cultivated towards having no fear and preferred living amongst humans (3). Dogs will go where Wolves fear to tread.
All this...because The Wolf has been branded a danger to livestock and humans, despite RARELY killing any humans. In fact, the dog has a higher likelihood of killing humans—but we still hunt The Wolf (4).

The Wolf is a force of Nature—again, not unlike thunderbolts, water, snow—but we continue to allow its eradication because it interferes with our profit margins—or we believe the hype that they endanger humans—and not the other way around.

Please sign this petition and tell Congress & the President that the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service MUST put The Grey Wolf back on the Endangered Species list or create a "No-Kill Amnesty" with the breed within all 48 states—before any more destruction can be brought upon The Wolf, and the ecosystem as a whole.

I'm looking for three million plus signatures—let's make it happen.

Thank you for your interest in saving The Grey Wolf. We are a very sad species if we do nothing and allow the extermination of such a beautiful and critical creature.

There need be no extinction event for this animal.
