The Voice-Speaking Out Against Child Trafficking
For Changemakers Challenge our group, The Voice are speaking out against child trafficking. Trafficking is a modern day slave trade were people are decieved or taken by force, bought, sold and transported into slavery for sweat shops, farms, domestic servitude, circuses, sexual exploitation, child brides, sacrificial worship even the sale of human organs. 1.2 million children are trafficked every year sometimes sold for as low as $20 each, less than the price of cattle. The victims often suffer torture, threats to families, abuse and a loss of innocence. This is a trade that earns twice the worldwide revenue of Coca-Cola. You may not think it affects you but it occurs in every country and if a chocolate bar isn't fair trade it is likely to be produced by trafficked children. We don't just want to raise awareness but want the government to do more to prevent it and support charities that counsel the victims of it.
