I am a British citizen working legally in the U.S. [I have lived here for 23 years] I do not have the right to vote so not sure how valid my my signature is? - but coming from a European country whereby I used to 4 weeks paid vacation as a "standard" in any employment contract, I was shocked and appalled by the huge difference here. Any time I want to go visit my family in the U.K., I have to factor in loss of income in addition to the expense of travel - and that's assuming my employer will even grant me the 3-4 weeks off I want. I have been looked at 'sideways' when asking for this much time off. It is not considered "normal" in the U.S. to take this much time off, and certainly not all at once. I am currently in college and taking a Public Speaking Class. I am doing an informative speech on this exact topic - letting America's know about their country has no laws in place to guarantee paid time off, and will ask them all to sign this petition after my speech. I sincerely hope they do. The culture in this country is somewhat the issue: a new mindset that life does not revolve around work, and/or there is -- or should be -- a balance with work - AND - rest. Thanks for your time.

Great Idea. Workers need their time so they don't get burned out
