I don't know how they thought this was okay.... it's like calling your store the nifty n*****. It's horrid! They need to change it and maybe take a few courses on racism and cultural history

Your “spunky” squaw is more than offensive. As a native woman, I would absolutely be dreadfully embarrassed if my daughters ever used another’s culture or referred to anyone as such a heinous racial slur for profit. The term squaw was initially used to simply mean “vagina”. So “spunky vagina” is that your brand or label? You are a disgrace!

Even from a marketing point, if you get backlash and people telling you it's derogatory, changing your name would only garnish you more business, instead of all the hate. Educate yourself. When a group says it's derogatory, "well, my friends say it's ok," is not ok. I wonder where her "friends" are from and what their community thinks.

I wish you would have changed your name when you were told how offensive it is. Please reconsider and change it now.

You can't "reclaim" a derogatory slur that you never have been, nor ever will be called. You have never dealt with what it means to be an Indigenous female, and we ask you not to speak for us with regards to what is appropriate.
