I've also seen a photo of the owner wearing a fake war bonnet and a t-shirt that reads "Powered by Whiskey." What could possibly be the motivation for that, other than to promote hate through negative stereotypes?

We First Nations women see this term ‘Sqwah’ as a very racist term. If anyone ever calls me that name you better be prepared for a punch in the face because that’s not a name you call First Nations women

I am a Native American Tribal member and am appalled at uneducated people trying to profit off of any peoples that have been persecuted, especially those NATIVE to this country! If any type of business was named anything derogatory towards a non-minority group this would not even be an issue. It's such a shame.

This petition should be addressing the "fashion" line as well.

I am from an indigenous tribe to North America. Sioux. The millions of missing and murdered indigenous women and our families do not deserve to have this garbage out for people to think ‘yes it is ok to say squaw’ it never was and as a society of informed and compassionate people we cannot let these names be used, especially to sell fake native clothes

Kindness costs nothing but your pride. It is OK to admit that you were wrong about something. No one judges you for having good intentions, they are judging you for how you are treating someone after knowing something you have said has hurt them. Now is the time to show that you can be bigger than a stereotype and bigger than ego. You may be surprised with how many people will support you. You can even make a wider connection with others in a good way by asking your customer base or native women, or both for name ideas! But please, take the compassionate part and help to heal the wounds of the past, rather than letting them fester in hearts.

In response to the business owner saying her business name is empowering, it is not. It never will be. Native women are being murdered and have gone missing at alarming rates. We need to respect and honor the original inhabitants of these lands. Please dig into any humanity you may have and change your business name. It is a disgrace and dehumanizes an entire group of people. I’m a Yakama nation descendant, and you are spitting on my ancestors with your business name.
