Look, it sucks to be called out, but you don’t have to double down on this. Just accept that you’ve made a mistake and see this as a chance to do better. We’ve all made mistakes before - what counts is how you handle it when learning you’ve been wrong and what you will do to be better. This is a good chance for you and you should take it. Changing your name would help you to not actively be seen as a racist, which I think most people would want? This is your time to listen and learn and do better.
