Please take the time to do some research on the word squaw and investigate why it is so offensive to so many.

As a Native American woman I can attest the the fact that the term 'squaw' is highly derogatory, racist and offensive. In this day and age, ignorance of historical racism and just plain appropriation of Native culture for personal gain is inexcusable. CHANGE THE NAME!!!

Maybe change it some something more realistic like "blue cow" since you love turquoise so much. You aren't an "indigenous women" and your products aren't made by indigenous people, there is no reason to be named the spunky squaw.

Cultural appropriation has been going on for far too long.

It’s ok that you didn’t know that squaw is a derogatory term. But now you know. So please apologize, change the name, and enjoy having a successful business at nobody’s expense.

Repulsive that you are keeping a name that you've been informed insults hundreds of thousands of women.

Brook, please change the name of your business. You have not only hundreds, but thousands of Native women (some of which are very well respected elders, activists, & academics I may add ) & allies confirming that it's an offensive, horrible, & racist term; therefore, please listen and take advantage of the free education on multiculturalism you're receiving right now (that you obviously didn't get in college), and change the f-in name! You wouldn't call your business "Spunky C-nt" or "Texas Tw-t" would you?? To indigenous North American women the sq- word is just as vile & nasty, and, I'm not sure where you've been all these years, but the fight to get the Washington Football team to change their name has been ongoing for years. As someone else said, "Spunky Cowgirl", "Funky Gringa", or "Rodeo Gal" would be much more appropriate. Also, please label the kids' wear section something like "little cowpokes" instead of misappropriating & incorrectly using the term "papoose". That said, I really hope you use all this valuable, free advice that you're getting & do the right thing. You're welcome!

This needs to stop. I can't count how many times myself or my family has been called 'squaw' and it continues to be used as a derogatory term. This is racist and if you're company has any value in human lives, you would change it.

Why would you choose a business name that hurts people? Are you so ignorant that you don't understand or are you just a crap person?
