She's (the white lady) is obviously uneducated on the term of her businesses name but also the fact that she is selling Native American jewelry is just dumb. It is not a trend nor something these people can just wear. Unless she supports the real thing made by people who make turquoise jewelry for a living.

The fact that this business felt that the use of this word in a business name is acceptable, shows pure ignorance. Will there ever be true reconciliation?

The name is oppressive to my people and all indigenous people of this land. You cannot know the struggle and therefore you should not make profit from it. The name has negative connotations and I think you wouldn't want the name of your business to be seen negative.

The term is offensive and should not be used as a cutesy name. It’s alright to admit when you’re wrong and unaware of a mistake. Be a grown up, own up to your mistake, apologize, change the name, continue to learn and grow. And stop using the term as an insult against people who call you out on it as I’ve seen you already do it.

This is so offensive. You should be ashamed of your dismissive attitude towards those you are offending.

The word Squaw is an offensive sexualized word used by colonizers. It has lost its integrity by being misused and should not be used for anything other then teaching about Native Women and how to decolonize
